Introduction from Henry Alamango, Executive Director of COMNET-IT

Henry Alamango, Executive Director of COMNET-ITThis newsletter of the Commonwealth Network of IT for Development provides a Commonwealth IT forum for policy-makers, management, researchers and development agencies concerned with good practice in the dissemination of IT in developing countries. The context therefore includes the formulation and implementation of national IT strategies, as well as information systems in support of public service reform. This newsletter complements the COMNET-IT website and some of the content will be shared. This reflects the aspiration of COMNET-IT to share information by all means possible and the recognition that despite the popularity of the Internet these days it is not the only, nor always the most effective, method of publishing material. We hope you will like this publication and that some readers will find time to contact us with contributions for future issues - particularly material for the National Review which will be carried as a regular feature. Other regular features will be the highly topical Year 2000 issue, application trends and management issues such as Workflow systems, Development Methodologies and Performance Metrics.

The COMNET-IT Forum will initially be published quarterly. Queries or new addresses should be referred to the COMNET-IT office . The newsletter will be mailed free of charge to all paid-up COMNET-IT members. Please help the newsletter live up to its name; there is no "forum" without participation.
